Classification and Properties of PA Nylon!

Extruded nylon is one of the most important engineering plastics, with wide applications covering almost every field. It is the most widely used of the five major engineering plastics.
 
Nylon (Polyamide, abbreviated as PA) refers to plastics composed of polyamide resins. These resins can be obtained through the condensation polymerization of diamines and diacids, or through the ring-opening polymerization of lactams formed after the dehydration of amino acids. Unlike PS, PE, and PP, PA does not gradually soften with increasing temperature; instead, it softens within a narrow temperature range close to its melting point. The melting point is very distinct: 215-225°C. Once the temperature is reached, it begins to flow.

There are many types of PA (polyamide), commonly classified as PA6, PA66, PA4.6, PA66+GF30, PA66+MOS2, etc. Anheda has been specializing in the production of extruded P6 nylon since 1994.
 
1. Nylon 6 (White): This material possesses superior overall performance, including mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, mechanical damping, and abrasion resistance. These properties, combined with good electrical insulation and chemical resistance, make Nylon 6 a "general-purpose" material suitable for manufacturing mechanical structural parts and maintainable components.
 
2. Nylon 66 (Cream): Compared to Nylon 6, it offers better mechanical strength, stiffness, heat resistance, and abrasion resistance, as well as better creep resistance. However, its impact strength and mechanical damping performance are lower, making it ideal for machining on automatic lathes.

3. Nylon 4.6 (Reddish Brown): Compared to ordinary nylon, Nylon 4.6 is characterized by strong rigidity retention, good creep resistance, and better heat aging resistance over a wider temperature range.
 
4. Nylon 66, POM, and PET do not meet the requirements in the "higher temperature range" (80-150°C) in terms of stiffness, creep resistance, heat aging resistance, fatigue strength, and abrasion resistance.
 
5. Nylon 66 + GF30 (Black): Compared to pure Nylon 66, this nylon is reinforced with 30% glass fiber to improve its heat resistance, strength, and stiffness. It also exhibits improved creep resistance, dimensional stability, and wear resistance, and has a higher allowable operating temperature.
 
6. Nylon 66 + MOS2 (Gray-Black): This nylon is filled with molybdenum disulfide. Compared to Nylon 66, its rigidity, hardness, and dimensional stability are improved, but its impact strength is slightly reduced. The grain-forming effect of molybdenum disulfide enhances the crystalline structure, thus improving the material's load-bearing capacity and wear resistance.
