In May 2025, the Board of Directors of Asahi Kasei Corporation decided to exit the businesses of methyl methacrylate (MMA) monomer, cyclohexyl methacrylate (CHMA), polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin (product names: DelpetT and DelpowderTM), and styrene-butadiene latex, and to reallocate its acetonitrile supply framework (closing its refining plant in Kawasaki, Japan).
One of the fundamental strategies of Asahi Kasei's current mid-term management plan for fiscal years 2025-2027, "Trailblaze Together," is to improve investment efficiency through structural transformation and increased productivity. This decision is part of a broad review of the business portfolio and a reallocation of operating resources in accordance with this fundamental strategy.

Asahi Kasei's PMMA resin, styrene-butadiene latex, and acetonitrile businesses began in 1963, and its MMA monomer business started in 1974. These products were all manufactured at the company's plant in Kawasaki, Japan, and have been supplied to customers worldwide for over half a century.
In recent years, high raw material costs and declining market competitiveness have led to a continued slump in these businesses, with factory operating rates remaining consistently low. Ultimately, Kawasaki's factory decided to cease production of these products. Upon hearing this news, industry peers across the supply chain expressed regret.
However, even in this environment, many manufacturers continue to maintain their production lines for the sake of their customers, and we are just one of them. AHD's PMMA sheets and rods are among the production lines we have optimized and adjusted over many years, representing a significant investment of time and effort in our product line. We thank our customers who have been selling and using our PMMA sheets and rods and will continue to provide them with high-quality, affordable products. We appreciate the support of our existing customers and welcome new clients to explore cooperation opportunities.
