I. Turning Machining Points
POM rods are prone to softening or deformation during turning due to frictional heat. We recommend:
Keeping the spindle speed below 200 rpm
Limiting the feed rate to no more than 0.2 mm/r
Using water or saponified oil for thorough cooling throughout the process to ensure dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
II. Drilling Process Optimization
When drilling POM material, using ordinary drill bits can easily cause hole wall cracking due to compression. Anheda Plastics recommends:
Prioritizing the use of a sleeving drill bit or grinding the drill bit into a three-pointed shape, allowing cutting to be completed by the two side edges, avoiding compression of the material by the center point, thus obtaining a round, crack-free hole shape.
III. Operating Temperature Range
POM is a thermoplastic material, with a long-term operating temperature limit of 80°C and a short-term (intermittent) operating temperature not exceeding 100°C. When designing or selecting POM parts, please be sure to assess the actual operating temperature to avoid degradation of mechanical properties due to overheating.
